BRADY'S DEER

Brady has already killed two deer this year. And he killed them all by himself.

This was his second deer of the year. It was a spike and he killed it December 20th.

This was his first deer of the season. It was a Doe and he killed it Thanksgiving Morning.

AN UPDATE.....FINALLY!!!

I'm sure all of you have been wondering what's been taking so long for me to update my blog. Well with the Holidays and trying to get things together after bringing twins home, I haven't had much time to sit down and work on my blog. The boys are sleeping right now, so hopefully I can catch you all up on what has been going on in the Hamm Family. Below are pics that we took throughout the holidays. The boys had a great First Christmas and Brady got everything he wanted and more. I hope you all had a Very Merry Christmas and have a Wonderful 2009!

Trying to get a Christmas Pic of the boys is harder than you think.
Quinn (left) and Kaden (right)
The boys went for their two week checkup on the 16th and everything checked out great. Quinn weighed 4.10 and Kaden weighed 4.9. The Doc wanted the boys to be gaining at least a half an ounce each day, but since we left the NICU they have been gaining a whole ounce a day. So they are ahead of schedule which is wonderful news. They both should be over 5 pounds by now.
We don't go back to the doc until their two month checkup which will be in February.
Quinn and Kaden got lots of goodies from Santa. Isn't it funny how their stockings are bigger than they are. The chairs are from Retta (my mom).

I got exactly what I wanted....a digital photo frame for my office.

Brady and Chris playing with Brady's Star Wars Helmet.

Chris got a mount of his Mahi Mahi that he caught this past summer.

Brady got a Deer Camera from Santa. Him and his Daddy have already put the Camera out so they can see what kind of deer are where they hunt.

Brady also got some coveralls so he will be nice and warm when he goes hunting. He also got Hulk Hands, a Star Wars Light Saber, Star Wars Movies, more Hunting stuff, Clothes, and some other goodies.

Aunt Kelley gave the boys these reindeer hats. This was the best pic I could get with the hats on. The boys didn't really like having the hats on.

AND THE BOYS COME HOME....

We are all finally home. The boys got to come home this past Thursday, December 11th. It was kind of sad leaving the NICU, but at the same time a very exciting moment for our family. Chris and I are both so happy that the boys are doing so well and will be able to be with us during the holidays. And just so you know, we did find out that the boys are Identical Twins.

HAPPY ONE WEEK BIRTHDAY

Today our boys turned ONE WEEK old. It's so hard to believe that they are finally here and already a week old. Tomorrow, December 9th, should be the big day. They are coming home! I'm so glad that they will be home for Christmas. They have done so well in the NICU. Thank you to all the nurses that have taken care of our boys.
Happy Birthday Quinn O'Kelley!

Happy Birthday Kaden William!

Our Boys....Let's hope they keep up this good sleeping when they come home.
This picture was taken after they were circumsized.
They did so good!! YAY to our big boys!!! Tomorrow they will get their hospital picture taken. The hats they are wearing were made by Threads of Love...A Christian organization that makes hats and blankets for preemie babies in the NICU at Brookwood Medical Center.

BIG BROTHER'S 1ST BASKETBALL GAME

About a month ago, Brady decided that he wanted to play on the Termite Basketball Team at his school. It's only about seven of them that play and they just play each other. So, last Saturday they had their first game. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to his first game, but Chris was able to go and he took some pics for me.

In the above pic, Brady is doing a great job dribbling down the court. He told Chris that he wasn't going to pass the ball to anyone so he could make alot of shots. How cute!!! He made like 20 points during the entire game.

And here he is again dribbling and going in for the shot. Unfortunately, Brady's team lost their first, but like Brady says it isn't about winning it's about having fun.

FIRST FEEDING & MEETING BIG BROTHER

Last night Brady got to come meet his two new Little Brothers. He was so excited, but really hated seeing hit little brothers with IVs. Brady was on cloud nine about seeing the twins.
And if you are wondering why Brady's lips are blue, he ate like 4 blueberry candy sticks before going to the NICU.

Brady getting to see his two Little Brother's for the First Time.

Brady checking out his Little Brother Quinn. Quinn's IV had to be put in the top of his head and Brady didn't really like it, but neither did any of us.

Kaden William Hamm Sleeping Away - And he looks like his Mommy

Yesterday, both Quinn and Kaden also got their first bottle. They did well with the first one so I got to go down and give them the next one.

THEY ARE HERE...DECEMBER 1st, 2008

The boys finally decided it was time to meet their mommy and daddy. Yesterday, Kaden was showing lots of dips in his heartrate so my doc had Dr. Gonzalos come in to do another Ultrasound. Both babies looked great and my amniotic fluid was good as well. He decided he would check me, so it was then we found out that I was 3cm dilated and about 75% effaced. He said if we gave it a day or two that my water would break, so him and my doc consulted and they decided to do a C-section at 1pm. Chris and I were so excited and couldn't wait to meet the little guys. I got back to the Operating Room at 1:22 and back to recovery within an hour. The boys looked great and sounded great. I stayed in recovery for about an hour and then was wheeled into NICU to see the boys. Both boys were doing great. Kaden was having to have a little oxygen to help him out, but he is off of it as of right now. The NICU doctor said they should be able to come home somewhere between 5 and 10 days. I will atleast be here until Friday. And now for the pics you have all been waiting for......

33 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS

On Wednesday November 26th, Kaden decided to show another dip on the monitor at around 4:30 am, so that meant back to L&D for monitoring. Both boys actually showed another dip the day before around 2pm. I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and while I was hooking my monitors back up I noticed the low heartrates. So I got the nurse and from that point on, I can't get out of the bed. Not even to go to the bathroom. How fun is that??? Since this is my third time to be taken down to L&D, my doc decided to just leave me down here until I deliver. Also on Wednesday, Dr. Gonzaloz, the high risk doctor, came to do an U/S on the babies to check my amniotic fluid level. My levels were a little low, but that was normal for twins. He also had a fun time looking at the boys. At one point, he went Oh My Goodness....this boy has a lot of hair. So I guess we will have to see how true that is. After meeting with Dr. Gonzaloz and then him consulting with my doc, they decided that since I will be 34 weeks on Sunday, they are going to stop all my meds that are keeping me from going into labor on Monday. After you reach 34 weeks there is really no reason to stop labor. So Monday we will just see what happens. Hopefully we will have two sons by the first of next week.

AN INTERESTING DAY ALREADY

I was back in L&D this morning around 5am. The reason behind this was Kaden (Baby B) showed a dip on the heartrate monitor. His heartrate dropped down to 60 for about 4 minutes, but this was more than likely due to a way that I moved or something. But his heartrate came back up and neither baby has shown in many problems, but due to procedures I was given some oxygen and fluids and sent down to L&D for monitoring. By 11am my doc called and said that it was okay to go back to the Perinatal Floor to my room (#251). I am now to stay hooked up to the monitors constantly. These little boys are just loving giving their mommy trouble before they even get here. But they are keeping me and their daddy on our toes and I'm sure from now on that's how it will always be (HA!), but we are going to enjoy and cherish every minute of it.

33 WEEKS and 1 DAY ULTRASOUND

I got my Ultrasound and..................Quinn (Baby A) weighs 4 pounds and 5 ounces and Kaden (Baby B) weighs 4 pounds and 8 ounces. If I make it another week we just might have five pound babies. And it confirmed again that they are both definitely boys. They were showing it off pretty bad....it was so funny!!!! My fluid levels measured good and the overall U/S looked good. So if they do another U/S it will probably be in about two weeks, that is if I'm still here. That's all for now!!!

THE BEGINNING OF WEEK 34

I'm back on the perinatal floor. My doc came around this morning and said everything looked stable and that I could go back upstairs, so I am now in room 251. She also ordered me an U/S today so we can check the growth of the babies. And for right now the babies are on the monitors 24/7. This morning about five minutes before my nurse came in to get my tape that shows all my contractions and the babies heart rates, Kaden showed a little dip after one of my contractions, but his heart rate went right back up. They felt like the dip happened maybe because I had just gotten up to go to the bathroom, but we are watching them just to make sure. As soon as I have their weight and growth information, I will post again.

33 WEEKS

Well I've made it to 33 weeks. YAY!! Yesterday was a really bad day. At about 11:30 am the nurse came into check my blood pressure and it was high. She waited a little while and checked it again and it was still high and it kept getting higher. I had several runs of having high blood pressure so they wheeled me down to labor and delivery to get hooked back up on the magnesium and to have some blood work done to see if I was headed in the direction of having Preclampsia. At this point we were under the impression that we might have babies in about one hour if my blood pressure didn't calm donw. As soon as I got down to L&D and was hooked up to the Mag, my blood pressure starting going down. My blood work came back fine. Then I had a bad spell of contractions that were pretty bad. I finally got some pain medicine and everything settled down for the night. This morning they took me off the Mag and started me back on the Procardia (a pill). Everything seems to be stable right now. So maybe I'll get through another week. I'm still in LDR #2, but hopefully will get moved back to another room on the Perinatal floor either tonight or tomorrow.

32 Weeks and 4 Days

Well my doc came by this morning with the results of the Fetal Fibornectin test. And the test came back positive which means I am highly likely to deliver early which we all pretty much knew that, but with a positive result that means that both docs want me to stay in the hospital. So the plan for now is that I will be in the hospital until Monday the 24th and then we will reevaluate everything on Monday. I will be getting another U/S on the babies to reevaluate the babies weight. Another factor that played a big part in whether to go home or not was the fact that I don't really go 24 hours without having a flare up with these contractions so therefore if Iwas at home I would be calling the doc everyday about something therefore it is better for me to just stay in the hospital and be monitored here, plus I'm doing nothing but resting and eating which is what me and the babies need most right now. Oh and I've got a poster up in my room that has a calendar on it and everybody is predicting when they think the babies will get here. They calendar goes from now until Christmas Day. So if you want your name on the calendar just send me your date. There will be a prize, but we don't know what yet. Unless the babies come this weekend, I'll post on Monday after my visit with the doc and hopefully my U/S.

32 Weeks and 3 Days

I've made it another week!! YAY!!! I am still in the hospital though, but might be going home tomorrow. My doc did a test called Fetal Fibronectin on me last night. We should have the results tonight. But this test is suppose to show how likely I am to deliver these boys early. This test will give my doc a better idea of what I need to do as far as staying in the hospitall goes. Right now I am still contracting, but we have deteremined that I'm always going to contract. My contractions right now are not making my cervix change which is a good thing. If I go home I will continue to take medicine for the contractions. I am currently taking Procardia and Terbutaline as needed for the contractions. As long as the contractions are not getting more intense then I am fine. It has been a long week, but at least if something was going to happen last weekend we have prevented it and these boys are getting more days inside so they will be stronger when they come out. Plus the boys got the steroid shot for their lungs just in case they did come early. So everything is looking much better and we are hoping to go at least two more weeks. As soon as I here from the test results, I will get a post up. Sorry, it has taken me so long to post, but it has been a crazy week.

31 Weeks and 3 Days

I had another appointment today. It started at 1:30pm with a Non Stress Test. Everything looked good and the babies did fine, but the test did show that I was having like 10 contractions an hour. I then went up for an U/S. Baby A weighed 3 pounds and 10 ounces and Baby B weighed 3 pounds and 12 ounces. They aren't far from being 4 pounders. So after that I met with my doc and she checked me and I was a finger tip dilated and 50% effaced, so that meant I was being admitted for monitoring. So I am currently at Brookwood Hospital and will more than likely be here until these babies are born. They've given me the steroid to help with the babies lungs and are giving me meds to help with the contractions. So far the contractions are down to like every 20 minutes apart. So please keep us in your prayers and I will try to keep you all posted on what's going on.

30 WEEKS AND 5 DAYS PREGNANT

So today I had another appointment. I met with Dr. Brown this time. She made me feel so much better about these contractions. She checked me out and everything looked great! I am suppose to continue taking the terbutaline. I told her that I'm still having contractions and she said that that was normal for some people especially when carrying twins and that the contractions more than likely would not go away. The medicine was to keep me out of the hospital. I go back next Wednesday the 12th for a non stress test at 1:30, U/S at 2:30 and then my appointment with Dr. Favor at 3pm. She said they don't do stress test on the babies, but if something strange shows up on the non stress test then that would be a sign that they would need to take the babies. I believe I will be getting these once a week from now on. These past two weeks of rest were really good for me, but I'm feeling okay now so I'm going to go back to work next week, but only to work for about 4 hours a day. My goal is to work some at least until December 1st. So keep me and these babies in your prayers and I will let you all know what happens at my next appointment.

THE SHOWER GIVEN BY OUR FRIENDS..

Sorry for the late post, but I just got these pictures from my mom this past weekend. Anyways....our closest friends hosted us a baby shower on October 17th which was the Friday that I was in the hospital. It was a crazy day. I couldn't believe that I almost missed my own shower. But everything worked out great by the end of the night. Our friends held us a co-ed shower at The Preserver in Hoover. Everything was perfect and everyone had so much fun. The food was delicious and the cake was precious. We played games, opened gifts, and got to visit with people that we don't see that much anymore. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics.

I let Daddy-to-Be open most of the gifts.
This toy was given to us by Big Brother Brady.
The twins weren't the only ones that got gifts that night. Brady got a shirt from Daddy and Kristy that said "Big Brother" and then Grandmommy gave Brady a Nintendo DS for already being such a Big Brother to the Boys.

We got our Pack-N-Play from the Potter's. THANK YOU!! I know we are certainly going to enjoy it especially since we are always on the go.

Grandmommy gave the Boys there very first Saltwater Fish outfit. HOW CUTE!

Just a pic of Mommy and Daddy opening more gifts.

The Boys each got their very own Alabama stroller. These were given to us by Granny Page and Pappa Brad. The boys are so lucky to have them as Grandparents. We Love You!

I mentioned that we played several games, well in this pic me and my sis are trying to figure out what type of chocolate candy bar was melted in this diaper. It was a fun game and there were plenty of laughs.

Ginny had a blast playing with the kids.

Me, My Grandmother Quinn, and My Niece Victoria!

All the host and hostesses gave us this Awesome Diaper Cake. It was filled with all kind of goodies and was made from 280 diapers. Jane did a great job in making it for us.

Brady really got into the Diaper Game!

The guys got to participate in their own game. Instead of chugging a beer from a can they had to chug a beer from a baby bottle. It was rather hilarious. David won, but he also cheated in a way. He cut the nipple off with his pocket knife, so then we thought that Ken won but later found out that he bit the end of his nipple off. It was funny watching the guys try to chug a baby bottle.
This was the Cake. The theme of the party was "Two Peas in a Pod". The girls did a great job in putting everything together. It was all so cute!

The HOSTESSES:
Maggie Dixon, Jane Dunne, Allison Barton, Sara Chandler,
Christen Ballard, and Ann Bradford Sturgis

THE BOYS ROOM....

The Boys' Room are basically done. We've still got some washing to do and get all the clutter out, but other than that their rooms are ready for their arrival.

This of course is Quinn's bed.

I painted this picture for their room.
I thought they needed a cute little saying in their room.

This of course is their changing area. The wreaths under the white shelves were made for us for out baby shower that our friends gave us. (pics from that shower to come later) The wreaths are made out of diapers and wash clothes.

And this is Kaden's bed. I sure hope the boys like their rooms!
